Gill Sans is probably
the best known
typeface designed by
English stonecarver
and calligrapher, Eric Gill.
It was developed for
use on signs, posters and
timetables for the
London & North Eastern
Railway around 1930
and remains one of the
most readable sans-serif
fonts available today.
